The first thing you need to do is to make sure that it is legal to serve wine you have made yourself at the function and the venue where you are holding your reception will allow you to bring in and serve wine that you have made yourself. The NEW law in BC says you can serve this wine at any function all you need to do is obtain a Special Occasion Liquor license. This you can either do online at solo.bcldb.com or pick up an application at your local liquor store. Remember that it is illegal to charge money for this wine.
Next you need to decide what wine you want to make. Generally you need to have some of both red and white. As everyone’s taste is different we suggest that you remember you need to please the majority of your guests. We will be happy to make suggestions for you. It is suggested that you have enough wine for each person , both seniors and youth, as even though the youth may not be legal to drink the seniors generally help them out. General rule of the thumb is a half bottle per person.
The price of course will depend on quality and quantity of the wine you choose. We have wine kits you can make from $4.50-$6.50 per bottle the choice is yours. The important thing to remember is you need to make it ahead of time so that whatever you choose has some time to age.
